A team of 30 scientists from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) has submitted a detailed project proposal to the Indian government to develop next-generation 'angstrom-scale' semiconductor chips using 2D materials like graphene and transition metal dichalcogenides. The proposal, which seeks Rs 500 crore over five years, aims to leverage these materials to create chips significantly smaller than current nanometer-scale technologies, thereby boosting India's leadership in the semiconductor industry.
