Indian journalist targeted with NSO spyware, anti-corruption group says

Government-backed hackers attempted to install spyware made by NSO Group on the iPhone of an Indian journalist, according to the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP). The journalist, Anand Mangnale, was among several individuals in India who received alerts from Apple warning them of being targeted by "state-sponsored" hackers. OCCRP's forensic investigation linked the intrusion to NSO's Pegasus hacking tool, which grants hackers extensive access to target smartphones. The use of the spyware on the journalist's phone was condemned as "unacceptable and outrageous." The Indian government denies the allegations.
