India's Commerce and Industry Minister, Piyush Goyal, has stated that India will not cater its policies to suit Tesla but will instead focus on attracting all-electric vehicle manufacturers to set up a base in the country. Tesla has been seeking tariff concessions, but Goyal emphasized that the government will not make decisions based on specific demands from any one company. The government recognizes the need for a vibrant EV ecosystem and aims to encourage global manufacturers to invest in India. Goyal also highlighted the benefits of electric mobility for India, including reducing pollution and trade deficits, as well as saving foreign exchange.
