India Needs To Prioritise Citizen-First AI Models: Nandan Nilekani
Nandan Nilekani, co-founder and chairman of Infosys, emphasized the importance of developing artificial intelligence (AI) applications that benefit all citizens in India, rather than focusing on building large language models (LLMs). He called for collaboration among startups, government, and the private sector to increase the adoption and application of AI. Nilekani advocated for practical solutions to address the challenges faced by India's population, stressing the need to make a difference and put the technology in the hands of people. His comments came as the people+AI and EkStep Foundation announced a consortium of 24 global tech companies for an open cloud compute project.
