India has revised its AI advisory after facing backlash from entrepreneurs and investors. The updated guidelines no longer require government approval before deploying AI models in the South Asian market. Instead, companies are advised to label under-tested and unreliable models to inform users about their potential fallibility. The move comes after severe criticism of India's original approach, which was deemed a "travesty" by venture firm Andreessen Horowitz. The latest advisory focuses on preventing the use of AI for unlawful content, ensuring non-discrimination, and guarding electoral integrity. The requirement to identify message originators has been removed.

The deal would require approval from the US Department of Commerce, but concerns have been raised regarding the lack of transparency and safeguards protecting sensitive US-origin technology. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has made changes to its merger and acquisition (M&A) rules, providing exemptions for certain transactions. Companies will no longer need approval from the CCI for buying up to 25% of a target company's shares in the secondary market prior to making a formal bid. The new rules also state that acquisitions of shares as part of bonus issues, stock splits, and other non-controlling transactions do not require prior approval. However, voting rights regarding management decisions can only be exercised after CCI approval is obtained.
