JioHotstar appoints David Zakkam as SVP and Head of Data Strategy and Analytics JioHotstar has appointed a former Uber executive David Zakkam as its new Senior Vice President and Head of Analytics & Data Strategy. The move follows Zakkam's brief retirement earlier this year after completing his tenure at Uber, as per his LinkedIn post. Zakkam brings over 21 years of experience in data science and analytics, having held senior leadership roles at global technology companies including Uber, Meta, Swiggy, and Mu Sigma. At Uber, he led the Data & Applied Science team in India, driving growth across rides, delivery, and mobility, and leading early applications of Generative AI. During his tenure at Meta, he addressed large-scale integrity challenges that impacted millions of users. As Vice President of Analytics at Swiggy, he played a key role in strengthening the company’s data culture and scaling high-impact decision systems. “In this role, David will partner with the business, content, marketing, ads, engineering, and product teams to find ways to unlock consumer and business value through data-driven decision-making,” said Bharath Ram, Chief Product Officer at JioStar, in an internal email announcing his appointment. JioHotstar is one of the world’s largest OTT services and is in a phase where data-led decision-making can meaningfully shape its next decade. Zakkam said the opportunity to build advanced data capabilities and turn analytics into a strategic advantage for JioHotstar drove his return from retirement. He aims to strengthen how the platform uses data to understand content performance, improve personalisation, and support revenue growth across India and international markets.
