Govt seeks bids from colleges, universities for help on Bhashini proliferation

The ministry of electronics and information technology in India has called for bids from higher education institutions and startup incubators to boost the adoption of Bhashini, a natural language processing service. They are seeking organizations that can enhance and promote the utilization of the Bhashini platform for all Indian languages and regions. The deadline for submitting bids is July 10. The selected bidders will have to undertake research projects to improve machine translation accuracy, develop domain-specific language models, participate in multilingual benchmarking initiatives, and collaborate with linguistic communities for data collection. Bhashini aims to facilitate real-time translation of local Indian languages through open-source databases and translation tools.
