Google has apologized for its Gemini AI chatbot after it created images that were devoid of white people, sparking outrage. The company stated that the team responsible "got it wrong" and didn't intend for Gemini to refuse creating images of any particular group. Google turned off Gemini's image generation feature and said it would release an improved version in the future. Senior vice president Prabhakar Raghavan acknowledged the mistakes and stated that Gemini is a tool that may not always be reliable, particularly with generating images or text about current events.
