Former Snap AI chief launches Higgsfield to take on OpenAI's Sora video generator

Former head of generative AI at Snap, Alex Mashrabov, has launched Higgsfield AI, an AI-powered video creation and editing platform called Diffuse, to cater to a wide range of creators. Using a custom text-to-video model, Higgsfield's app can generate videos from scratch or incorporate a user's selfie to create a personalized clip. Higgsfield aims to stand out by prioritizing a mobile-first, social-forward strategy. It has raised $8 million in seed funding and plans to invest in an improved video editor, training more powerful video generation models, and targeting social media marketing as its core money-making niche. However, generative AI models, like the one used by Higgsfield, face challenges related to copyright infringement and potential abuse.
