Flipkart CFO Sriram Venkataraman steps down; Nishant Verman rejoins in leadership role Walmart-owned ecommerce company Flipkart has announced that Group CFO Sriram Venkataraman will transition out of his role. Venkataraman will remain with the company for a period to ensure a smooth transition. During this time, Ravi Iyer, CFO at Flipkart, will oversee the broader finance organisation. Alongside this, Flipkart has appointed Nishant Verman as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development and Partnerships. He will focus on strengthening the company’s corporate development and partnership initiatives. Verman rejoins Flipkart after his stint as founder of Bzaar, a cross-border exports platform. He has also held roles in corporate development at Microsoft and in investment banking at Morgan Stanley. According to the company, its finance function continues to be supported by existing leadership across business units, with governance processes in place.

Quick commerce platform Blinkit has named Vipin Kapooria as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This marks the Zomato-owned company’s first full-time CFO appointment in over two years. Kapooria previously held the role of Vice President and Business Finance Head at Flipkart, where he contributed for more than four years. According to Kapooria's LinkedIn profile, he served as the Business Finance Head for the mobiles, electronics, and large appliances categories at the Walmart-owned company. Moneycontrol reported the development first. Entrackr has reached out to Zomato for more information. This development follows the recent resignation of Hemal Jain, who oversaw finance operations for both Zomato and Blinkit. In August 2022, Blinkit's CFO, Amit Sachdeva, resigned and later assumed the role of CFO at IGT Solutions in early 2023. Most recently, Sachdeva was appointed as the CFO of the edtech unicorn PhysicsWallah. This marks the fifth high-profile departure from Flipkart, with its executives moving to rival companies. Notably, Swiggy has recruited four former Flipkart leaders, including Kanika Tiwari, Hari Kumar G (CBO of Instamart), Shalabh Shrivastava (SVP Driver Org), and Amitesh Jha (CEO of Instamart). Similar to Blinkit and Instamart, Flipkart has also ventured into the quick commerce space with its service, Minutes, currently operating in select areas of Bengaluru, Gurugram, and Mumbai.

Exclusive: Kabeer Biswas in talks to join BigBasket after exiting Flipkart Kabeer Biswas, co-founder and former chief executive officer of Dunzo, has stepped down from his role as Vice President at Flipkart where he was leading its quick commerce initiative, Flipkart Minutes. In a statement, Flipkart said that Kunal Gupta, Vice President and a Flipkart veteran, will now lead Flipkart Minutes to ensure the seamless continuation of business and operations. According to Entrackr’s sources, Biswas is in talks to join BigBasket and is expected to lead the company’s quick commerce vertical. “Discussions are at an advanced stage and the role will involve leading the grocery major’s fast delivery business,” said one of the sources aware of the matter, requesting anonymity. As per sources, BigBasket has extended an offer letter to Biswas. Biswas had joined Flipkart in January this year to build and scale the company’s 10-minute delivery business. His exit comes less than a year after taking up the role, marking another leadership change in Flipkart’s new commerce push. Flipkart Minutes was launched earlier this year to compete with established players such as Blinkit, Zepto and Swiggy’s Instamart. The unit was being built under Biswas’s leadership as part of Flipkart’s efforts to expand beyond its traditional e-commerce operations. Responding to Entrackr’s queries, Biswas said he was not authorised to comment, while BigBasket declined to comment. Biswas co-founded Bengaluru-based Dunzo in 2014 and led it for nearly a decade. The company, once a key player in India’s hyperlocal delivery space, faced operational and funding challenges over the past two years and was eventually shut down.
