Fintech players weigh in on PM Modi’s vision for Mumbai as a global fintech capital

During his visit to Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced plans to make Mumbai the global capital in financial technology and elevate Maharashtra as a tourism leader. While this move is welcomed by many, there are concerns within the fintech industry. Some experts believe that Mumbai, already India's financial capital, has the potential to become a fintech hub. However, challenges such as infrastructure, cost of office space, and attracting talent need to be addressed. To establish Mumbai as a premier fintech hub, investments, partnerships, innovation programs, and a focus on cybersecurity are necessary. With the right solutions, industry stakeholders anticipate Mumbai becoming a leading fintech hub within 5-10 years.
