B2B fintech unicorn Oxyzo Financial Services recorded 58.4% year-on-year growth during the fiscal year ended March 2024. At the same time, the profits of the Tiger Global-backed company spiked 47% and neared the Rs 300 crore threshold. Oxyzo’s revenue from operations increased to Rs 903 crore in FY24 from Rs 570 crore in FY23, according to the company’s consolidated financial statement reviewed by Entrackr. Oxyzo is the lending arm of industrial goods and services procurement platform OfBusiness which provides credit solutions and loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups. Interest received from the disbursement of loans formed 96% of the total operating revenue which increased 61.3% to Rs 866 crore in FY24. The rest of the income came from fees and commissions which grew 50% to Rs 36 crore in FY24. Finance cost became the largest cost center for Oxyzo, forming 61.67% of its overall expenditure. These expenses surged 73.2% to Rs 317 crore in FY24. Oxyzo’s employee benefits also saw a growth of 48.7% during FY24. The firm’s burn on legal cum professional, advertising, technology, and other overheads pushed its total expenditure up by 66.3% to Rs 514 crore in FY24 from Rs 309 crore in FY23. The notable scale and controlled cost helped Oxyzo post a 47% increase in its PAT (profits after tax) to Rs 291 crore in FY24 from Rs 198 crore in FY23. On a unit level, it spent Rs 0.57 to earn a rupee in FY24. Oxyzo claims that it ended FY24 with an approximately Rs 2,600 crore of net worth with post tax return of assets (RoA) of 4.5% and a gross non-performing assets (NPA) of 1.02%. In addition to scaling its balance sheet, the company will continue to invest and grow its debt capital markets platforms for its enterprise clients. Like its parent firm, Oxyzo has been quick to latch on to a relevant and profitable service in the B2B market it serves. The rising profitability places it very well to meet its ambitious goal for the debt capital markets platform. It’s the kind of virtuous cycle that investors love, and it should be no surprise to see a spike in valuations here soon.

According to consolidated financial statements reviewed by Entrackr, Oxyzo’s operating revenue rose to Rs 1,207 crore in FY25, up from Rs 903 crore in FY24. Following a 58% year-on-year growth in FY24, B2B fintech unicorn Oxyzo Financial Services continued its strong momentum in FY25, recording a 33.7% YoY increase in revenue for the fiscal year ended March 2025. The company also reported a 16.5% rise in profit during the same period. Oxyzo, the lending arm of the industrial goods and services procurement platform OfBusiness, offers credit solutions and loans to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups. Interest income from loan disbursements contributed 95% of its total operating revenue, which rose to Rs 1,141 crore in FY25. The remaining revenue came from fees and commissions. As a lending-focused company, finance costs emerged as the largest expense for Oxyzo, accounting for 58% of its total spending. These costs climbed to Rs 439 crore in FY25, in line with the company's expanding scale. Oxyzo spent Rs 143 crore on employee benefits. Its legal, impairment, administrative, and other operational expenses contributed to a total expenditure of Rs 755 crore in FY25, up from Rs 514 crore in FY24. The combination of topline growth and controlled cost mechanism helped the company post a 16.5% growth in profits, which rose to Rs 339 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 291 crore in the previous fiscal year. Oxyzo raised approximately $200 million in 2022, achieving unicorn status following its Series A round led by Alpha Wave and Tiger Global. The company also plans to raise a fresh round of equity in the second half of FY26 in the range of $100-150 million. According to startup data intelligence platform TheKredible, the OFB group, including its promoters, holds a 74.5% stake, while Alpha Wave is the largest external investor with a 7.4% share, followed by Tiger Global. Its parent OfBusiness is also gearing up for a $1 billion IPO, expected to include a combination of a fresh issue and an offer for sale.

The 26-year-old educational platform mainly provides offline coaching for Civil Services Examination (CSE). Income from coaching services accounted for 94.8% of the total operating revenue, which increased by 37.6% to Rs 384 crore in FY24 from Rs 279 crore in FY23. The remaining income is generated from the sale of study materials, including pen drives, books, test papers, and other resources. Drishti IAS operates seven institutes, including two in Delhi, three in Uttar Pradesh, and one each in Jaipur and Indore. Its Mukherjee Nagar Institute is the largest revenue contributor, accounting for 58% of the total coaching income. Employee benefits and faculty charges constituted 40% of its overall cost, increasing by 41% to Rs 117 crore in FY24 from Rs 83 crore in FY23. Drishti IAS's advertising spending also jumped 3.4X to Rs 51 crore in FY24. Drishti IAS's overall expenditure increased to Rs 289 crore in FY24 from Rs 197 crore in FY23. Higher spending on employee benefits and advertising resulted in a modest 3.4% increase in net profits, which rose to Rs 90 crore in FY24 from Rs 87 crore in FY23. The company's ROCE and EBITDA margin were recorded at 55.7% and 33.73%, respectively, while the expense-to-revenue ratio stood at Re 0.71. As of March 2024, the company's total current assets were valued at Rs 88 crore, with cash and bank balances of Rs 54 crore.

Online fashion and beauty commerce platform Nykaa showcased a 24.1% growth in scale during the fiscal year ending March 2024. The profit after tax (PAT) for the Falguni Nayar-led firm also rose 90.5% to Rs 40 crore in the same period. Nykaa’s revenue from operations grew 24.1% to Rs 6,386 crore in FY24 from Rs 5,144 crore in FY23, its consolidated financial statements disclosed in the stock exchange filing show. Nykaa On a sequential basis, the firm posted a 6.8% decrease in revenue to Rs 1,668 crore in Q4 FY24 from Rs 1,789 crore in Q3 FY24. The sale of beauty, personal care, fashion and other products and services through various platforms was the sole source of revenue for Nykaa. The firm has 14 subsidiaries and one associate named Earth Rhythm. It also made Rs 30 crore from interest and gain on the financial assets, tallying the total income to Rs 6,416 crore in FY24. For the fashion and beauty commerce platform, the cost of procurement formed 57.4% of the overall expenditure. In line with the scale, this cost grew 27.3% to Rs 3,647 crore in FY24. Its employee benefits, finance, depreciation, legal, advertising cum promotional, conveyance, and other overheads took the overall expenditure up by 23.6% to Rs 6,346 crore in FY24. The 24% scale and prudent cost mechanism helped Nykaa post a 90.5% increase in profit to Rs 40 crore in FY24 from Rs 21 crore in FY23. Its ROCE and EBITDA margins stood at 5% and 1.6%, respectively. On a unit level, Nykaa spent Rs 0.99 to earn a rupee in FY24. Nykaa Just ahead of quarterly and FY24 financial results, Nykaa announced fresh employee stock option (ESOP) options for its employees under the new ESOP scheme. As per Fintrackr’s estimates, the newly added ESOP options were worth around Rs 7 crore. Nykaa is currently trading at Rs 179.2 as of (22nd May at 5.08 pm) with a market cap of Rs 51,171 crore.

Decathlon India operates on a direct-to-consumer model, managing the design, manufacturing, and sale of its sports gear through large retail stores and an e-commerce platform. The company currently operates 90 stores across India. The sale of sports products was the sole source of revenue for Decathlon India. It also added Rs 58 crore from interest on investments and other non-operating income which tallied its overall to Rs 4,066 crore in FY24. The cost of procurement was the latest cost center forming 64.4% of the overall expenditure. This cost was reduced by 4.3% to Rs 2,448 crore in FY24, compared to Rs 2,559 crore in FY23. Decathlon India spent Rs 327 crore on employee benefits. Its controlled spending on power, rent, repairs, fuel, advertising, information technology, freight, franchisee fees, and legal/professional expenses led to an overall cost reduction of 4.5% to Rs 3,797 crore in FY24 from Rs 3,975 crore in FY23. Despite modest revenue growth, Decathlon India’s cost-control measures enabled it to post a net profit of Rs 197 crore in FY24, a sharp recovery from a Rs 18.6 crore loss in FY23. On a unit level, the company spent Re 0.95 to earn a rupee, with improved ROCE at 17.79% and EBITDA at 14.49%. By the end of the last fiscal year (FY24), its total current assets stood at Rs 1,247 crore, including Rs 325 crore in cash and bank balances. Last year, Decathlon India CEO Sankar Chatterjee mentioned that the company plans to double its revenue to Rs 8,000 crore within the next 3 to 5 years.

The Gurugram-based firm also posted Rs 110 crore PAT in the same period marking a big turnaround as compared to over Rs 100 crore loss in FY23. Honasa’s revenue from operations grew to Rs 1,920 crore in FY24 from Rs 1,492 crore in FY23, its consolidated financial statements sourced from Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) show. On a sequential basis, the firm saw a modest 3.7% decrease in revenue to Rs 471 crore in Q4 FY24 from Rs 488 crore in Q3 FY24. The sale of beauty, personal care, and related products across skin, hair, and baby care was the sole source of revenue for Honasa. It also made Rs 48 crore from the interest and gain of financial assets, tallying the total revenue to Rs 1,970 crore in FY24. For the D2C brand, its marketing cum advertisement cost is likely to be the largest cost center but the company didn’t disclose the complete expense breakdown while the cost of procurement of materials formed 31.8% of the overall expenditure. Its employee benefits, finance, depreciation, legal, conveyance, and other overheads took the overall expenditure to Rs 1,822 crore in FY24 from Rs 1,501 crore in FY23. The decent scale and controlled costs helped Honasa post a Rs 110 crore profit in FY24 from a loss of Rs 151 crore in FY23. Its ROCE and EBITDA margins improved to 13% and 9.5%, respectively. On a unit level, it spent Rs 0.95 to earn a rupee in FY24. Note 1: The significant loss of Rs 151 crore in FY23 was attributed to the write-off of its Rs 154 crore investment in Just4kids (Momspresso) which was acquired to expand content and influencer management capabilities. Note 2: Honasa has also encountered a legal suit in the UAE in relation to some distribution agreements with RSM General Trading LLC. The company claimed Rs 100 crore of damages from Honasa Ltd. Further, the court in the UAE also ordered Honsa to pay Rs 57.6 crore plus interest. The company, however, is in the process of making an appeal.

Temasek’s Fullerton recently acquired the troubled fintech firm Lendingkart in a distress sale. The company’s valuation plummeted to around $100 million in the deal, down from its peak of $690 million. While the reasons behind this downfall may become clearer when the firm discloses its FY25 numbers, the company’s profit after tax (PAT) slipped 6% during the fiscal year ending March 2024. We will analyze the company’s expenses in detail in the second half of the story. For now, let’s focus on its revenue streams and their growth. Lendingkart’s revenue from operations increased by 36% to Rs 1,090 crore in FY24 from Rs 798 crore in FY23, its consolidated financial statement sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) shows. Lendingkart is a non-banking finance company (NBFC) that provides working capital and business loans to SMEs across India. It offers loans with an average ticket size of Rs 5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh to MSMEs and has disbursed over Rs 18,700 crore to more than 300,000 businesses. Revenue from co-lending was the primary contributor, accounting for 54% of the operating revenue, which surged by 88% to Rs 591 crore in FY24. Revenue from interest on term loans shrank by 2.86% to Rs 407.81 crore FY24, while commission income spiked 34X to Rs 22.58 crore in FY24. It also made Rs 69.15 crore from other operating activities. The company generated another Rs 127 crore in FY24 from non operating activities which took its total revenue to Rs 1,217 crore in FY24. On the expense side, finance cost was the major factor, which increased by 16.82% to Rs 293.53 crore in FY24. Employee benefit expenses grew by 75.70% to Rs 199 crore while legal charges increased 58.25% to Rs 125.62 crore FY24. Overall, the firm’s total expenses spiked 49.4% to Rs 1,022.7 crore in FY24 from Rs 684.4 crore in FY23. Note: The company recorded Rs 171.67 crore in FY24 and Rs 67.12 crore in FY23 under impairment losses, these amounts have been excluded from the expense or profit calculations. The rising expenses on employee benefits took a toll on Lendingkart's profit which slipped by 6% to Rs 174.92 crore in FY24 from Rs 185.93 crore in FY23. Its ROCE and EBITDA margin stood at 23.33% and 44.39%, respectively. On a unit basis, the company spent Re 0.94 to earn a rupee in FY24. The Ahmedabad-based company reported Rs 768.5 crore in cash and bank balances and had a current asset of Rs 2,110 crore as of FY24. According to TheKredible, Lendingkart has raised a total of Rs 3,217 crore (approximately $452 million) in funding to date. Its leading investors include Temasek, Bertelsmann, Mayfield, and Saama Capital.

Income from the booking of hotels and packages accounted for 80% of TBO’s revenue, which increased to Rs 357 crore in Q4 FY25. Meanwhile, income from air ticketing and other allied services brought Rs 79 crore and Rs 10 crore to the firm’s coffers. Hotels and packages, as the top revenue source, made service fees the largest cost center, accounting for 33.75% of total expenditure or Rs 135 crore in Q4 FY25. Employee benefits were Rs 99 crore in the same quarter. Overall, total costs rose to Rs 400 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 325 crore in Q4 FY24. The decent surge in scale and controlled expenditure led TBO to post a 28.3% YOY increase in its profits after tax to Rs 59 crore in Q4 FY25 from Rs 46 crore in Q4 FY24. However, for the full fiscal year, it posted a 15% YoY increase in PAT to Rs 230 crore in the previous fiscal (FY25). At the end of today’s (Thursday, May 22) trading session, TBO Tek saw around a 3% decrease in its stock, which stood at Rs 1,197 with a total market capitalization of Rs 13,005 crore or ($1.53 billion).

E-sports accounted for 41.5% (Rs 216 crore) of the company’s total operating revenue, while the gaming segment held a 30% share (Rs 156 crore), followed by ad tech, which contributed 28% (Rs 148 crore). Nazara also earned Rs 18 crore from interest and gains on financial assets during the quarter, bringing its overall revenue to Rs 539 crore. However, the company posted a 40.8% YoY increase in its total income to Rs 1,715 crore in FY25, compared to Rs 1,218 crore in FY24. On the line of scale, Nazara’s total expenses surged by 85.3% to Rs 528 crore in Q4 FY25, compared to Rs 285 crore in the same quarter last year. Content and commission costs together stood at Rs 186 crore, while employee benefit expenses rose to Rs 80 crore. Notably, marketing expenses saw a sharp 3.5X jump, reaching Rs 151 crore in Q4 FY25. Despite a 95% year-on-year revenue growth in Q4, the company’s profit remained flat at Rs 4 crore in Q4 FY25. For the full fiscal year, its net profit declined to Rs 51 crore in FY25 from Rs 74.7 crore in FY24. Last week, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) also approved the acquisition of a majority stake and control over Nazara Technologies Limited by Axana Estates LLP, Plutus Wealth Management LLP, and Junomoneta Finsol Private Limited. Nazara is currently trading at Rs 1,270 (as of 03.41 PM) with a total market capitalization of Rs 11,127 crore (approximately $1.3 billion).

IPO bound MobiKwik made a strong comeback in the fiscal year ending March 2024, with its revenue surging by over 62%. The fintech firm also achieved profitability during FY24, recovering from an Rs 84 crore loss in FY23. That should do no harm at all to its IPO prospects. MobiKwik’s revenue from operations grew to Rs 875 crore in FY24 from Rs 539 crore in FY23, its consolidated annual financial results sourced from the Registrar of Companies (RoC) shows. Income from the commission on recharge, processing, and interest income on servicing loans, payment gateways, and technologies platforms were the primary sources of revenue for MobiKwik in FY24. In the last fiscal year (FY24), the company expanded its loan offerings through lending partners, resulting in a 3X increase in its lending operational cost to Rs 270 crore as compared to Rs 69 crore in FY23. Its payment gateway also grew 18.4% to Rs 201 crore in FY24. The employee benefits, legal, advertising cum promotional, technology and other overheads pushed the total cost up by 36.4% to Rs 876 crore in FY24 from Rs 642 crore in FY23. More than 60% jump in scale and controlled expenditure led MobiKwik to turn black with Rs 14 crore in the last fiscal year as compared to Rs 84 crore loss in FY23. Its ROCE and EBITDA margins improved to 15.21% and 4.16% respectively. On a unit level, it spent Rs 1 to earn a rupee in FY24. In January this year, MobiKwik filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the market regulator SEBI to raise Rs 700 crore from its IPO. The firm also reported profitability during the first half of FY24 with Rs 9.5 crore PAT and an operating revenue of Rs 381 crore. This is the second attempt by MobiKwik to go public as the Gurugram-based firm filed its first DRHP in July 2021. However, the firm later abandoned public listing citing weak market conditions. It’s worth highlighting that the firm is looking to raise less than half of what it aimed at from the previous attempt to go public. After filing DRHP, the company also raised Rs 50 crore ($6 million) in debt from BlackSoil Capital. After being overshadowed by Paytm and its storied investors, MobiKwik has done well to achieve profitability well before Paytm is expected to. The firm has often looked to plough a lonely path, sticking to its core offerings even as peers ventured into multiple segments. Now, it has the benefit of legacy as well as a strong balance sheet to build on, something it seems well prepared for, as the founders remain committed to the firm’s future as well. With an IPO finally in sight, the small debt fund raise can also be seen as a sign of confidence and conviction in going through with the IPO process this time.

MobiKwik’s revenue from operations increased to Rs 269 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 229 crore in Q3 FY24, its consolidated financial statements accessed from the National Stock Exchange (NSE) show. However, Mobikwik's earnings were reduced by 7.6% in Q3 FY25, compared to Rs 291 crore in Q2 FY25. MobiKwik's primary revenue sources in Q3 FY25 were commissions on recharges, processing, and interest on servicing loans, payment gateways, and technology platforms. However, the company did not provide an income breakdown in its quarterly report. Notably, Mobikwik's payment business grew 166% in Q3 FY25 to Rs 196.5 crore. According to the press release, MobiKwik's registered user base has grown to 167 million with 5 million merchants. The company’s payment of GMV has also increased by 2X year-on-year to Rs 29,400 crore. On the cost side, expenditures on the payment gateway were the largest cost center, accounting for 45.4% of the overall cost, which stood at Rs 144 crore in Q3 FY25. The cost of employee benefits and lending fees was recorded at Rs 44 crore and Rs 25 crore, respectively. Its financial guarantee, legal, advertising, finance, and other overheads took its total expenditure up by 44.1% to Rs 317 crore in Q3 FY25 from Rs 220 crore in Q3 FY24. In the end, Mobikwik reported a net loss of Rs 55.2 crore in Q3FY25, compared to a profit of Rs 5.1 crore in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year. During the first nine months of the ongoing fiscal year, its bottom line is negative at Rs 65.4 crore. Mobikwik made its debut on the stock exchange last Dec 24 with an impressive 59% premium on its issue price on the first day of its listing. The company is currently trading at Rs 406.75 (as of 14:25) with a total market capitalization of Rs 3,160 crore or (approximately $376 million).
