EquiLend data stolen in cyberattack, company confirms

EquiLend, a global financial technology firm, confirmed that a ransomware attack in January 2024 resulted in the theft of customer data. The company sent a data breach notification to its customers, informing them that personally identifiable information (PII) was stolen, including names, birth dates, and Social Security numbers. EquiLend stated that there is currently no evidence of the stolen information being used for identity theft or fraud. To mitigate potential risks, the company is offering affected employees two years of free identity theft protection services. EquiLend operates a regulated platform called NGT, facilitating over $2.4 trillion in monthly transactions.
