Countries need to build sovereign AI capabilities: IBM CEO Arvind Krishna

IBM CEO Arvind Krishna emphasized the need for countries to develop their own capabilities in large language models and computing infrastructure to support sovereign AI capabilities. He suggested that governments invest in this area, which could cost millions rather than billions, to enable countries to have AI capabilities for specific domestic use cases or to maintain strategic advantage. He highlighted the importance of national AI computing centers and common data sets for specific applications. Krishna also discussed IBM's positioning in the AI market, stating that the company is building domain-specific AI models for monetization and expects AI to be a positive opportunity for India's tech industry and workforce.
