Corning, Optiemus break ground on India's first Gorilla cover-glass manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu

Glass manufacturer, Corning Incorporated, and telecom company, Optiemus Infracom Ltd, have broken ground on a new facility in Tamil Nadu, India. Called Bharat Innovative Glass Technologies (BIG Tech), the facility will produce finished cover-glass parts for mobile consumer electronics. The aim is to strengthen local supply chains and create employment opportunities. The facility will manufacture Gorilla Glass, a durable, scratch-resistant cover material used in smartphones, tablets, and other electronic devices. The project has received support and praise from Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, MK Stalin, who sees it as a boost for the state's economy and position as a hub for innovation.
