Citing alleged abuses on OnlyFans, lawmakers call for stronger safeguards

Three U.S. lawmakers and two British lawmakers are calling for stronger measures against online sexual exploitation following a Reuters investigation that uncovered over 140 police complaints regarding nonconsensual pornography on the adults-only website, OnlyFans. The lawmakers emphasized the need for Congress and federal law enforcement to take action and protect victims. OnlyFans claims to have stringent content moderation procedures using human moderators and AI tools, but the investigation found cases of nonconsensual porn filed after the platform tightened its consent verification process. UK-based OnlyFans also drew scrutiny, with calls for the regulatory agency Ofcom to challenge the company based on the findings.
