ByteDance gets 24 hours to show EU a DSA risk assessment for TikTok Lite

Chinese company ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, is facing scrutiny from the European Union (EU) over compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA). The EU is concerned about TikTok Lite, a version of the app that allows users in France and Spain aged 18 and over to earn points for certain in-app activities. The EU has requested information from TikTok about the risk assessment it conducted before launching TikTok Lite, particularly regarding the potential impact on youth mental health and addictive behavior. TikTok has 24 hours to provide the risk assessment and until April 26 to provide further information. The EU could potentially open a formal investigation if compliance failures are identified.
