Uniphore, a startup incubated at IIT Madras, has made significant investments in knowledge AI, emotion AI, and generative AI. With a growing client base, increased geographical demand, and surging revenues, the company's AI-native advantage is evident. Uniphore recently inaugurated its 'India AI Innovation Hub' in Chennai, reaffirming its commitment to the city. The company plans to focus on gen AI and emotion AI research and will hire talent accordingly, capitalizing on its unique position as an AI-native company. Despite the generative AI buzz, Uniphore's steady growth has been largely unaffected, with clients focusing more on AI's business outcomes. The adoption of AI products has increased, and the company is experiencing significant revenue growth. Expanding into new markets, including India, Uniphore aims to create Chennai as the AI hub of India. It recognizes India's potential to be a global supplier of AI talent. While AI will make employees more efficient, reskilling is essential to adapt to changing job requirements. US President Joe Biden's order to regulate AI is welcomed, as it addresses the need for responsible guardrails. Uniphore's business roadmap for 2024 includes reaching a billion dollars in Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), raising over $600 million in capital, geographic expansion, and entering new segments such as marketing and HR. An eventual IPO is part of the plan, but the timing will depend on business development.
