Serial entrepreneur and investor Aakash Anand, founder of Bellavita has announced his latest venture, Unikon.ai, a platform to foster meaningful connections for its users by monetising their time and knowledge. Unikon.ai has also raised $2 million from entrepreneurs including Nikhil Kamath (Zerodha), Peyush Bansal (Lenskart), Vishesh Khurana (Shiprocket), Dholakia Ventures, Nitin Jain & Vasant Sridhar (OfBusiness), Gaurav Khatri (Noise). Influential figures like Tanmay Bhatt, Raj Shamani, Arjun Vaidya, Sharan Hegde (Finance with Sharan), Ganeshprasad (Thinkschool), Shlok Shrivastava (Techburner), and Rahul Malodia (Business Coach) also participated in the round. The other two co-founders of Unikon.ai are Palash Arneja, serving as the chief operating officer, and Sumit Jha, the chief technology officer. While Arneja is a chartered accountant Jha is the former CTO of Zecpe which was acquired by Cashfree in 2023. Unikon.ai has officially launched its new platform which enables users to connect with advisors or peers for practical, relatable, and genuine advice. As per the company, users can post queries for professional responses, host events such as webinars or workshops, and share their knowledge to earn income. The platform allows users to set their own pricing and schedules for one-on-one sessions through chat, audio, or video calls. Last year, former AngelList India’s CEO Utsav Somani launched community platform Offline. The firm also raised $2 million from co-founders of startups, unicorns, a clutch of micro venture capitals, and a few influencer-turned-investors.

Sourjyendu Medda, co-founder of social commerce platform DealShare, has ventured into the sportstech space with his new startup, Sports For Life, which aims to invest in and support the sports ecosystem in India, focusing on providing athletes with the necessary resources to excel. While Sports For Life has yet to announce its official launch, the Bengaluru-based startup has raised seed funding from individual investors and early-stage venture capital firm Roots Ventures. The board of Sports For Life’s parent company, Jambavan Academy, has passed a special resolution to issue 3,000 Seed CCPS to raise Rs 9.5 crore, according to its regulatory filings accessed by Entrackr. Roots Ventures invested Rs 5 crore, while ML Tondon and Sons HUF and Blume Ventures pumped in Rs 3 crore and Rs 1 crore, respectively. The rest of the amount was poured in by Kunal Shah’s QED Innovation and Himanshu Arora. According to TheKredible, the company is valued at Rs 36.65 crore ($4.3 million) following this seed round. Following the fresh funding, Roots Ventures has become the largest external stakeholder with a 12.08% stake, followed by ML Tandon HUF and Blume Ventures. According to the firm’s website, Sports For Life is investing in sports academies across India, with the goal of creating a sports ecosystem that elevates the overall standard of sports in the country. Medda, who was one of the co-founders and a board member of DealShare before leaving in January, has also roped in Armaan Tandon, a former data and operations analyst at Cartesian, as a co-founder of Sports For Life. In 2024, several prominent startup founders have launched new ventures, many of which have already secured initial funding. Notable launches include ZeroPe by BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover, OppDoor by Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, Unikon by Bella Vita founder Aakash Anand, Gabit by Zomato co-founder Gaurav Gupta, Callmatic by Mitron TV co-founder Shivank Agarwal, and Lyskraft and Nurix AI by Cult.fit co-founder Mukesh Bansal.

Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty and IT ministry-backed startup Regrip has raised $2 million about Rs 16.7 crore, in a funding round co-led by Qatar-based venture capital Sirious One, Inflection Point Ventures, and Let’s Venture. The round also saw participation from a host of angel investors, including EaseMyTrip’s co-founder Rikant Pitti, TIE Angels chairman Mahavir Pratap Sharma and Shobitam’s co-founder Aparna Thyagarajan among others Regrip has also provided exit to seed investor IIMA Ventures. The proceeds will be used to fuel the expansion of this innovative technology deployment with tyre companies and further enhance Regrip’s collection network for discarded tyres. It plans to ramp up its impact on the environment by revitalizing discarded tyres, reducing waste, and maximizing their lifespan. Founded by Tushar Suhalka, Regrip is building a network of discarded tyre collection centres. The startup uses quality-grade rubber to make refurbished tyres through shearing and retreading processes.

Specialty coffee QSR chain abCoffee has raised $3.4 million in its Series A round led by Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from existing investor Tanglin Venture Partners. Earlier to this round, the startup had raised $2 million in its seed round led by Tanglin Venture in September last year. The proceeds will be used to enable abCoffee to ramp up its supply chain and technology stack to bring on-demand coffee beverages at lower prices in quicker time, abCoffee said in a press release. Founded in 2022 by Abhijeet Anand, abCoffee offers a wide variety of freshly brewed coffees at affordable prices and provides all the traditional blends including Americano, Latte, Flat White, Iced Latte, and Irish Cold Coffee. The company boasts a customer loyalty rate of 61%, nearly double the industry average, reflecting its commitment to exceptional service with a turn around time (TAT) of 1.5 minutes. Recently, the brand opened 25 outlets across Mumbai and Delhi within a span of 20 months. The brand is targeting 150 stores by end of 2024. Its competitors include Third Wave Coffee, Blue Tokai, Rage Coffee, Slay Coffee, Sleepy Owl, and Seven Beans Co., among others.
