Authentication startup FusionAuth has raised $65 million in its first funding round led by Updata Partners. The company, which provides authentication and user management tools for developers, will use the investment to expand its go-to-market efforts and product development. FusionAuth competes with native identity tools like Amazon Cognito and Microsoft Entra ID, but claims to offer more sophisticated functionality, such as passwordless authentication and configurable password encryption. The company has more than 450 paying customers and its free community edition has been downloaded over 13 million times.
