Arctus Aerospace raises $2.6 Mn in pre-seed round Arctus Aerospace has raised $2.6 million in a pre-seed round from Version One Ventures, South Park Commons, gradCapital, and a group of angel investors including Balaji Srinivasan, Srinivas Narayan, early Ather engineers, and leaders from Bounce Infinity and Boom Supersonic. Arctus was also part of the South Park Commons Founder Fellowship earlier this year. Arctus Aerospace is building large unmanned aircraft capable of flying at 45,000 feet for up to 24 hours while carrying a 250-kilogram payload. The aircraft is designed to deliver real-time geospatial intelligence. Arctus is developing a full-stack manufacturing and engineering setup to support this platform. The platform supports SAR, hyperspectral, optical, EO and IR sensing. Imaging that typically costs $10,000 for 500 square kilometres can be delivered for roughly $500, allowing use across energy, infrastructure, climate, and security sectors. Arctus currently operates aircraft flying above 10,000 feet and delivers centimetre-level geospatial accuracy. The company builds its aircraft and conducts manufacturing and testing at its 25,000-square-foot facility in Bengaluru.

Snippets Astrophel Aerospace raises Rs 6.84 Cr in pre-seed round Deep-tech space startup Astrophel Aerospace has raised Rs 6.84 crore (around $800K) in a pre-seed funding round from a group of angel investors and venture firms. The Pune-based startup will use the funds to build a prototype of its reusable semi-cryogenic launch vehicle and to expand in-house R&D efforts focused on building advanced missile-grade guidance and propulsion systems. Founded in 2022 by Suyash Bafna, Astrophel Aerospace is building cost-effective, reusable launch vehicles specifically tailored for small satellites. It operates on a vertically integrated model designing, engineering, and testing propulsion systems in-house. The firm’s Astra C1 series rockets are powered by in-house developed semi-cryogenic engines and built using a combination of 3D printing and modular assembly. Astrophel claims to be among a limited number of Indian private companies to have successfully test-fired a semi-cryogenic engine, and achieved this with just Rs 6 lakh in internal resources and no external funding before this round. It is now aiming for a working, reusable prototype within the next 2–3 years. The startup is building its flagship Potentia C1U engine using modular design and manufacturing principles adapted from the automotive sector. Astrophel has also signed an MoU with ISRO to support co-development and testing. In India, its key competitors include Skyroot Aerospace, Agnikul Cosmos, Bellatrix Aerospace and Pixxel among others.

Snippets Tsalla Aerospace raises $1 Mn in maiden funding round Tsalla Aerospace has raised $1 million in its first external funding round led by Sunny Stalnaker, executive VP at ASML, with additional support from SIDBI and equity-free grants from the Ministry of Defence’s Innovations for Defence Excellence (iDEX) programme. The proceeds will be used to expand its autonomous systems platform and scale deployment for defence and industrial use cases. Founded in 2019 and incubated at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Tsalla Aerospace builds an AI-based autonomy stack for drones and unmanned systems. Its AI Pilot enables unmanned platforms to operate without GPS or communication support and aims to function with zero operator intervention. Tsalla works with the Indian Navy and Indian Army on multiple projects. These include confined-space reconnaissance systems, backpack-based VTOL platforms designed for single-person operation, and logistics use cases such as ship-to-ship delivery in difficult weather conditions. Tsalla competes with domestic defence and autonomy companies such as ideaForge, NewSpace Research & Tech, Sagar Defence, CRON Systems, and global dual-use autonomy developers. According to the company, it also plans to raise $8 million in a seed round to expand its autonomy stack, grow deployments in India and international markets, and enter new defence and industrial segments.
