Apple has been fined over 1.8 billion euros ($1.95 billion) by the EU for impeding music streaming services like Spotify from informing users about payment options outside of the App Store. The European Commission found that Apple's restrictions constituted unfair trading conditions, marking the first antitrust fine against the tech giant. Apple plans to challenge the decision in court, stating that there is no evidence of consumer harm. This ruling aligns with the upcoming Digital Markets Act, which requires Apple to remove App Store restrictions. Despite the fine, it is significantly lower than previous penalties imposed on Google by the EU.
