Apple held talks with China’s Baidu over AI for its devices
Apple has reportedly entered preliminary discussions with Chinese search engine Baidu regarding the use of its generative artificial intelligence (AI) technology in Apple devices in China. Apple has been exploring partnerships with external companies to bolster its AI capabilities, and has also held talks with Google and OpenAI. In China specifically, Apple is searching for a local generative AI model provider, as China requires such models to be vetted by its cyberspace regulator before being launched to the public. Apple's discussions with Baidu are said to still be in the early stages.
