Apple endorses California bill to oblige companies to report carbon footprint

The bill, proposed by Senator Scott Wiener, mandates public and private companies with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion in California to disclose independently verified data on their emissions. Apple's endorsement reflects its commitment to environmental responsibility and measurement. The legislation aims to promote transparency in emissions reporting, including Scope 3 emissions related to supply chains and end-users. Apple also suggested allowing sufficient time for data collection, quality control, and third-party review of emissions disclosures.
