Apple accused by US labor board of imposing illegal workplace rules

- The National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has filed a complaint against Apple for violating employees' rights to organize and advocate for better working conditions. - The complaint alleges that Apple maintained unlawful workplace rules, including requiring employees to sign illegal confidentiality and non-compete agreements, as well as imposing overly broad misconduct and social media policies. - Apple denies these claims and asserts that it has always respected its employees' rights to discuss wages, hours, and working conditions. - If the case is not settled, it will be heard by an administrative judge in January, and the NLRB is seeking to rescind the allegedly unlawful rules and notify Apple's entire U.S. workforce of their legal rights. - This complaint originated from charges filed by a former senior engineering manager, Ashley Gjovik, who also filed a separate lawsuit against Apple for alleged retaliation. - Several other NLRB cases against Apple are pending, including claims of firing an employee for criticism and interference with a union campaign at a retail store in Atlanta.
