The tensor processing units (TPUs) are seen as a viable alternative to Nvidia's advanced AI chips and can be accessed through Google's Cloud Platform. The new Arm-based CPU, named Axion, offers superior performance to x86 chips and general-purpose Arm chips in the cloud. Google aims to make it easy for customers to bring their existing workloads to Arm without the need for re-architecting or re-writing their apps. The TPU v5p chip, which offers twice the performance of the previous generation, is now available on Google Cloud.
