Something pretty incredible just happened ❤️ On the 25th of September, I got one of my columns published in one of India’s most read newspapers - The Hindu. And it feels so good, because in my eyes, if you take business news out of the equation, there is nobody who stands above The Hindu. .. My journey with this paper began way back in 2015. I was exploring if I was cut out for the gruelling UPSC and IAS preparations. For about 6 months, The Hindu was my primary textbook for understanding the nation. - I quickly learned that civil services were not my calling and I stopped my prep. But the paper stayed with me - The deep-seated habit of reading that defines me today? It was forged by The Hindu and its brilliant columnists and reporters It fundamentally shaped how I think and write. .. Now, almost exactly 10 yrs later, that very same institution published my work. And it gets better. The column was published as a premium, paid article. The thought that the people at The Hindu believed my writing was worth actual money is a great feeling. .. Also, it’s another small but powerful moment of validation. A signal of where this 2.5yrs content creation for India’s decision makers has taken me. Think about it this way: - I don't come from a Tier 1 college - I never had Tier 1 academic scores - Except for my 11th and 12th standards in Delhi, I didn't study in Tier 1 cities - My career, spanning about 6 yrs now, has been a series of diverse experiments and pivots So, for someone with that unconventional journey to be deemed worthy by The Hindu is a powerful message. It's proof that it’s not about whether you tick certain pre-defined criteria. It’s about what your work stands for. If your work speaks quality, it will earn you merit. Period. Your background doesn't get the final say. Your output does. .. Rest, this isn't just a publication. For me, it's a badge of credibility It’s an immense personal honour to be featured by a paper I’ve respected for so long. And for this, my humble thanks to Kalyan Kalyanaraman sir, who considered me and my work to be worthy. And that’s what this small, happy update from my life is all about.
