Developed the Agnilet engine, the world’s largest single-piece 3D-printed rocket engine made entirely from Inconel. Measures about one meter in length and produced in a single print run without welds, joints, or fasteners. Granted a U.S. patent for both the engine design and manufacturing process, in addition to an earlier Indian patent. Manufacturing time reduced by over 60% compared to conventional methods. Eliminates potential weak points, improving strength, reliability, and thermal resistance. First successfully test-fired in 2021 and later validated in vertical firing trials at ISRO’s VSSC facility in 2022. Powered the Agnibaan SOrTeD mission launched on May 30, 2024, marking India’s first controlled flight of a semi-cryogenic 3D-printed engine. Launch was India’s second privately built rocket and the first from a private launchpad (ALP-01) at Sriharikota. Reduced production time from around six months to just three days. Recognized as a milestone in India’s private space sector and additive manufacturing capabilities. Follow vishakha Jangir for more such content.
