In my area, Nike, Adidas, and Reebok have all shut down. The only sports store that’s still running and has been for 15+ years is Bata. Started in 1931, Bata is India's largest footwear retailer and manufacturer → sells close to 50 M pairs annually. 👞Bata has significantly transformed itself over the years - - 2,150+ stores nationwide→ Company-Owned Company-Operated (COCO), Franchise stores and Shop-in-Shop (SIS) stores - Revenues of ₹3500+ Cr - Aggressively increasing its presence in Tier II/III cities - Onboarded Gunjan Shah (ex‑Britannia) as CEO in '21. - Focused product rollouts: launched Donald Duck and Marvel footwear collections for kids - Revamping stores to be more inviting, with lean inventory and a focus on what actually sells (Zero Base Merchandising) - Brand collabs with Influencers and designers→ Emily in Paris (limited series footwear), Geisha Designs (wedding season). ⏭️Bata is quietly becoming a very different brand from the one we all remember as kids.
