it's not there problem. when you talk in terms of companies, they need sales in hundred crores. Not feasible via direct selling. lately you might have noticed two brands 1) mama Earth 2) Wow both were launched in same segment. Mama Earth grew significantly as it also focused on offline retail, ie via the channel that you talked about. so both are needed. placement on shops are a big promotion itself. hundreds of brands are floating online(without retail channel) with negligible sales. (just in lacks). Brandings dermine sales in cosmetics industry rather than just pricing.
