Absolutely DO NOT drop out. Finish your degree no matter what. I've been hiring software engineers for years and I can tell you that the lack of a degree is an immediate red flag for many HR departments. Yes, some companies don't care, but why limit your options? The 2-year gap is already something you'll need to explain, but a completed degree shows perseverance and commitment. You can learn full stack development on the side through online courses or bootcamps while finishing your final year. Mechanical engineering + software skills is actually a powerful combination that could land you great roles in industries like robotics, automotive, or industrial IoT.
