The longevity of edition can be an issue for the academical text books and also the condition of the book. Also, you may take a text book back and pass it on, till the textbook is originally to read. I assume that if there's a physical damage, cask back wouldn't be credited, but at a larger scale checking the returned books for damage isn't going to be an easy task. lastly, things are different for a model. But for academic books, students love to do the marketing while study to retain or revise the major concepts. So, not able to highlight or Mark on pages would be a big set back. As lucrative as this idea looks, there's are multiple problems that can creep up once the execution is started.
