The fashion and textile industry significantly harms the environment through various means. It is responsible for approximately 10% of human-caused greenhouse gas emissions, surpassing the combined emissions from aviation and shipping sectors. This substantial carbon footprint exacerbates climate change. Additionally, the industry is the second-largest consumer of water globally, with textile production estimated to account for about 20% of global clean water pollution from dyeing and finishing processes. The extensive use of synthetic fibers, such as polyester, contributes to microplastic pollution; a single laundry load of polyester clothes can release 700,000 microplastic fibers into water systems, posing threats to marine life and entering the food chain. Moreover, the rise of fast fashion has led to increased textile waste, with 85% of all textiles ending up in landfills annually. Now I want to solve this as much as I can!!
