If a software engineer in ur office is getting paid 1lakh. And if an intern is doing 40% of the work an sde does pay him 30-40%. Only if he is skilled enough. If u have to train him again. We have to consider his training costs as he will be with us just for 2-3months unlike an employee. Then the amount decreases According to training time
