Indian-American billionaire and venture capitalist Vinod Khosla has defended the governance structure of OpenAI, stating that there is "nothing wrong" with it. Khosla's response comes after the AI startup reinstated its co-founder and CEO, Sam Altman, following his dismissal. Khosla compared OpenAI's structure to that of European companies and cited examples of similar relationships between for-profits and non-profits. He also highlighted how Tata Trusts in India follow a similar governance model. Khosla's firm, Khosla Ventures, is one of the primary investors in OpenAI.
