Father of UX, Don Norman, calls for sustainable, humanity-centred design

Donald Norman, the pioneer of user experience (UX) and former Vice President at Apple, believes that designers should take advantage of artificial intelligence (AI) and lead in shaping its development. He urges designers to go beyond being told what to do and instead determine what needs to be done. Norman emphasizes the need for a broader education in design, incorporating technology, human behavior, and business. He also advocates for a shift towards humanity-centered design that considers the environment, cultures, and all living things. Norman suggests adopting a circular economy approach and transitioning from product-based to service-based business models. He encourages designers to lead and address the weaknesses of emerging technologies, including AI, by incorporating new principles and focusing on user research.
