6G networks are not expected to roll out for at least five more years, but there is already a push by telecom industry players and governments to start preparing for the next standard. While some argue that it is premature to focus on 6G when 5G is still being deployed, others believe that it is necessary to align networking capabilities for the future. As 5G evolves, with advancements in AI, cloud computing, and other technologies, concepts like autonomous vehicles and smart cities are becoming more mainstream. The next step towards 6G will be the rollout of "5G Advanced" in 2025, which will enhance current 5G capabilities. 6G is projected to offer faster speeds, lower latency, increased connection density, and improved energy efficiency. However, it will require the development of enabling technologies like terahertz communications and 3D network architecture. The focus on infrastructure investment, including mobile hardware and Internet Exchanges, will be crucial to support the seamless transfer of data at high bandwidth and low latency.
