India has made significant progress in the field of telecommunications over the last five decades. The country now has the second-largest telecom network and is home to 1.19 billion telecom users. The rapid adoption of internet services, fueled by the availability of 4G and the fierce competition sparked by Reliance Jio's entry, has transformed India into the world's third-largest new-age tech ecosystem. As India celebrates World Telecommunication and Information Society Day 2024, the focus is now shifting towards 5G and the future exploration of 6G technology. The government is making efforts to provide internet connectivity to remote areas through satellite communication, and India aims to lead the world in 6G development.
