Payments companies hear the jingle of money via sound box ads
Economic Times
·

Fintech companies PhonePe and Paytm are planning to run audio advertisements on the sound boxes they have deployed across retail outlets. The experiment involves partnering with FMCG companies such as Mondelez and Tata Consumer Products. The ads will be played on the sound boxes after every few transactions, offering a potential revenue stream for the fintech firms. There are currently 10-12 million sound boxes deployed in India, which confirm transactions with audio messages. The details of the ad implementation are still being determined, including the possibility of discounted device rentals and revenue-sharing with merchants.
