The Indian AI Summit wasn’t really about showcasing India’s AI tech it looked more like a pitch to attract global capital into the country. People were made to wait six hours outside, demo equipment got stolen, and some exhibitors were presenting Chinese tech as their own. The visitor experience was embarrassing. UPI didn’t work at a tech summit in the country. Only cash was accepted, and even basic washrooms were poorly maintained. It exposed the same old infrastructure problems. But inside, VIPs, ministers, global leaders, and media got special access to control the optics. The focus seemed more on capturing reactions and headlines than real tech conversations. Actual founders and users were barely present to ask tough questions. Instead of backing local innovators, the summit looked like a pitch for global capital. And even in global partnerships, companies like Nvidia collaborate with big Indian giantswhy not the smaller players who actually need the support?
