Today’s progress update. Designed a chair. Completed its working drawing. Next in line: armchair, coffee table, dining table, and supporting accessories—lamp, side table, and more. Reaching this stage wasn’t the hard part. What’s hard now is what comes after. Moving from drawings to 3D models and renders is exposing real gaps. Smooth curves. Compound, multi-directional geometry. Precision at the millimetre level. Screws, nuts, bolts, tolerances—details you can’t ignore in furniture design. As an interior designer, most of my work lived in straight lines, panelling systems, and feet-inch measurements. Furniture doesn’t allow that comfort. Every curve has intent. Every joint has consequences. Every mistake shows up in manufacturing. I’m also at the stage where I need a designer—but can’t afford one yet. So every role collapses back to me: concept, detailing, modelling, learning, fixing, repeating. It’s slow. It’s exhausting. But it’s the only honest way forward right now. This is the early phase. Messy. Skill-heavy. Time-intensive. No shortcuts—just repetition and correction. If you have insights, tools, workflows, or references that helped you navigate complex curves, furniture-grade detailing, or efficient 3D processes, I’m open to learning.
