I read an article called The Month 1 Retention Dilemma by Harsh, and it had some really good points: Many apps think they have great retention, but a lot of users just forget to cancel. That’s not real loyalty. It just looks good on charts. For some apps like Jar or Groww, low activity is fine once the setup is done. But for apps like Cult or Netflix, no activity means the renewal was probably by mistake. With UPI AutoPay, payments go through easily, but many users don’t even know how to stop it. So founders should check how many users renew because they want to, not because they forgot. Main point: Real retention is when users stay by choice, not by accident.
