600 Chai outlets in 350 cities with ZERO funding. In 2016, Anubhav Dubey left Delhi’s civil services dream and teamed up with childhood friend Anand Nayak to chase something bolder—chai. ☕️ With just Rs 2 lakhs and a quirky name, Chai Sutta Bar, they opened a small shop outside a girls’ hostel in Indore. They had no playbook. Just free chai on Day One, music to draw attention, and friends acting as customers. But what truly set them apart? 👇🏻 They listened. Anubhav spent hours talking to customers, learning their habits, routines, and pain points. This wasn’t market research—it was a human connection. Every decision came from these conversations, right from store location and pricing to flavours and even vibes. ✅ By 2017, their second store had opened in Mumbai, driven by a customer who had become a franchisee. Word spread. No ad campaigns. Just consistent kulhad chai, hand-blended flavours, and a feel-good hangout space. By 2024, 600+ outlets, 4.5 lakh cups daily, and stores in Dubai told the rest of the story. 🙌 But the REAL magic? Each kulhad supports over 500 potter families. Over 90% of their staff come from underprivileged or differently abled communities. ➡️ My book, Startups of Bharat, dives into how CSB turned KYC—Know Your Customer—from a checkbox into a core strategy. And how that deep understanding fueled their growth, brand, and community. 1. Curious how a roadside chai stall became a franchise empire? 2. Why did everyday chai lovers invest in the brand? 3. How did they truly understand the customer and build virality? Read the full chapter. It’s hot, honest, and might just change the way you think about starting up. The book is available on Amazon
