I have seen Showcase from since it first launched and I must say it was never truly fair unfortunately. when it was first launch people used fake account to push votes. when that was fixed some people possessed more social network than other so they leveraged it and now we are seeing this. I wonder if something like this could actually ever be made truly fair to everyone in all terms.

True and this has been the case with product hunt as well. There are literally agencies who guarantee top 3 in addition product hunt. Can only be solved to some extent not completely
