Entrepreneurship is to business what Spirituality is to Religion "Every successful entrepreneurial journey starts with a journey of self discovery" - Kunal Shah The two words/worlds that have occupied most of my life over the past few years are Entrepreneurship and Spirituality. At first they started as independent pursuits, but over the course of time they have merged and now share an interdependent symbiotic relationship, which has become an integral part of mine and build3's journey. Below are some of the key similarities that I have observed between the two seemingly very different but essentially very similar paths - 1. Uncertainty is the name of the game The biggest challenge on an entrepreneur's journey is to adapt to function in an environment of absolute unsurity. Accepting "what is" forms the basis of all truth-seeking practices also. So, these two feed each other to help one embrace situations as they come, turning the ride into a fun adventure rather than an anxiety trip. 2. Living questions over dead conclusions The most underrated skillset is the ability to come back to fundamentals in times of chaos and confusion. Thinking in terms of the what, the wh,y and the how to question existing paradigms is the way to discovery, whether it's understanding the DNA of your company or the DNA of who you are. 3. Routine to Reinvention As a founder, you have to work on building a product, acquiring customers, setting operational processes, hiring and building a team, raising money, and the legal and financial stuff that comes along. On the other hand, sadhana may require long meditation hours at some point, studying different philosophical systems at the other, strict ascetic practices at one point, and devotional surrender at some other. Each phase requires a reinvention of the inner world, sometimes willingly with a smile, other times unwillingly with a slap. Looking back, I wonder - Can we keep the seeker within alive and take the journey as an exploration rather than a competitive race? Can we keep the child within alive and allow it to play more and "work" less? Can we really really take it as it comes? I hope to. Hope you do too. Cheers.
