In the last 10 days, our journey took us far beyond tech — into the raw heart of human emotion. As part of our deep-dive research for Friday AI’s emotional intelligence model, our team traveled across Tier 3 towns in Telangana, spent days on the ground in rural Odisha, and engaged in dialogues that shaped our understanding of what truly makes us human. We didn’t just observe. We felt. 🧠 Met with 7 leading psychologists & therapists — to explore how AI can not just analyze, but empathize. Their insights are now embedded in our emotion-training datasets. ⚰️ Attended 3 cremation ceremonies — across economic strata (high-income, middle-class, and rural lower-income), to witness how grief, loss, rituals, and mourning vary across culture and class. It was emotionally intense, but necessary — to teach Friday AI to grasp grief, not just detect sadness. 🧭 Mapped emotional touchpoints in post-death customs, interpersonal language, silence, tone, and gesture — critical for creating AI that understands cultural emotionality beyond just words. 🌍 Analyzed over 27 cultural variables across locations — including body language, prayer patterns, mourning duration, and local expressions of loss — these are being converted into fine-grained behavioral labels for our AI training engine. 💬 Integrated multimodal empathy layers — so our AI doesn’t just “respond,” it resonates — combining text, tone, and even visual mourning cues (like clothing color or community dynamics). This wasn’t just R&D. This was emotional fieldwork. Because if we want to build the world’s first truly emotionally intelligent AI, we have to go where emotion lives — not in labs, but in life.
