I always follow this one rule to charge high and correctly. Back then, I’d get on a client call, take notes, ask the right questions and quote right after. I thought I was being fast. Efficient. Impressive. But every time I quoted a project without my team, I underquoted. Every. Single. Time. Because once we started building? The team would say things like: “This needs two integrations.” “That flow isn’t clear.” “We’ll need backend logic for that.” And just like that The timeline stretched. The effort doubled. The margins vanished. That’s when I changed how I scope. Now, I bring the full team in, even before the quote. We walk through requirements together. Frontend, backend, design, everyone has a say. Everyone flags what I miss. And it’s not just about accuracy. It builds ownership. The team knows what’s coming. The client gets realistic timelines. And I don’t have to play firefighter every week. Quoting fast makes you look sharp. Quoting right keeps you sane.
