50 million monthly active users and more than $80 million revenue per month - No 1 App in Entertainment on App Store. ReelShort is a short-video app that offers a combination of free and premium content. It was founded by Joey Jia to introduce the short drama format to an international audience. It basically has series of content in reels format. #1 most downloaded non-game app on the US app store right now (ChatGPT is #3, TikTok is #5). They earn through micro-transactions were users can buy virtual currencies and watch more reels. A pay-as-you-go model, Ads and surprisingly no Recurring Subscription commitments. This is an exciting category and must have so much more potential if the production cost can come down with AI. Of the 15 top monthly grossing non-game apps launched 2023 - 8 are such short daily soap apps. But none so far in India. Anyone who's building it, or know something similar to this? Probably in Vernacular languages?

The key to succeeding in India would be regional languages. Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali—cover those, and you could dominate. The vernacular market is untapped for this format.
