If you start monetizing too soon, you might lose potential users who are still getting used to the product. It's important to offer enough time for users to build trust before asking for payment, especially if you're still gathering feedback to be honest. So...not at the MVP stage at least.

A product should be monetized when it has a solid user base that finds value in it, ensuring that users are willing to pay. Waiting too long can result in missed opportunities, but monetizing too early may drive users away so there's no perfect timing, look at the data and take a gut call.

You can offer it free for a short time to get feedback and early traction, but always have a plan for monetization.

You gotta test the waters. Do a freemium model – keep the basic stuff free, but charge for the premium features once people are hooked. Works for Spotify, works for you
