Imagine tomorrow morning 🌄, you wake up and WhatsApp ask you to pay if you want to message your friend.Will you pay or you will just uninstall WhatsApp. If you would have been WhatsApp user before 2016, you might have paid for it .Yes, WhatsApp charged a fee of $1 before 2016. However, when WhatsApp was acquired by Facebook in 2014 , WhatsApp business model just changed completely. Facebook acquired WhatsApp for the purpose of appealing the young generations as youth were not active on Facebook.Rather , they preferred WhatsApp over Facebook. After this Facebook called off the business model of subscription fee. And now, to everyone's surprise , WhatsApp became a free instant messaging app. Despite this WhatsApp generated a revenue of $ 382 M. How does WhatsApp earn this money? Who paid?
